LA County Announces Reopening Timeline for Nail Salons, Cardrooms and Indoor Shopping Malls With Limited Capacity

Beverly Hills, CA – The County of Los Angeles today issued an updated Health Officer Order which continues to relax restrictions during the recovery period from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beginning October 1, nail salons can reopen in LA County indoors at 25% capacity. On October 5, cardrooms may reopen outdoor operations as long as food and beverages are not served at the tables. Indoor shopping malls will be able to reopen beginning October 7 at 25% capacity while all food courts and common areas must remain closed. LA County also announced outdoor playgrounds can reopen at the discretion of cities. The City of Beverly Hills will be reviewing the protocols by LA County and will determine a reopening date for its playgrounds in the near future.

This update allows businesses in the City of Beverly Hills that fall within these categories to begin operating on each specified date if County Department of Public Health guidelines and appendix protocols can be met. When provided by the County, the updated appendix will be available at beverlyhills.org/coronavirus.

Nail salons are encouraged to continue operating outdoors through the City of Beverly Hills ‘OpenBH’ program as limited capacity for inside services will continue for some time.  For more information about applying for an OpenBH permit to safely move services outside, visit beverlyhills.org/OpenBH

As a reminder, personal care services (including waxing studios and massage parlors) may not operate inside under the current LA County Health Order and must continue to operate solely outside.

Today’s updated Order also allows for school waiver applications for in-person instruction for students in grades TK-2 to be submitted beginning October 5. Waivers will be available online at publichealth.lacounty.gov and applications will be received and reviewed by Public Health in consultation with the State. Schools must follow all required school reopening protocols for infection control, distancing, and cohorting. Every school that reopens will receive a site visit from Public Health.
